Indian Institute of Mass Communication Recruitment 2025: The Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC), a premier institution under the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, Government of India, has announced recruitment for faculty positions in the field of Journalism and Mass Communication. The recruitment is being conducted under Advt. No. 01/2025 for 01 Professor and 20 Assistant Professors across various IIMC campuses in India.

Background of IIMC

Established in 1965, IIMC is a deemed-to-be university offering advanced education, training, and research in mass communication. Its main campus is in New Delhi, with regional centres in Aizawl (Mizoram), Amravati (Maharashtra), Dhenkanal (Odisha), Jammu (J&K), and Kottayam (Kerala).

The selected candidates may be posted at any of these campuses or at future IIMC centres within India or abroad.

  • Professor: 01 Post (UR)
  • Assistant Professor: 20 Posts (7 UR, 6 OBC, 3 SC, 1 ST, 2 EWS, 1 UR-PwD)

Pay Scale

  • Professor: Level 14 (7th CPC)
  • Assistant Professor: Level 10 (7th CPC)

Eligibility Criteria

Professor

  • Ph.D. in Mass Communication or relevant discipline.
  • Minimum 10 research publications in UGC-recognized journals with a research score of 120.
  • 10 years of teaching/research experience in university/college or equivalent institutions.
  • OR an outstanding professional with Ph.D. and 10 years’ industry/research experience with significant contributions.

Assistant Professor

  • Master’s degree with 55% marks (or equivalent) in Mass Communication/related field.
  • Must have cleared UGC-NET/CSIR-NET/SLET/SET, OR hold a Ph.D. as per UGC Regulations.
  • Candidates with foreign Ph.D. from top 500 universities (QS/THE/ARWU rankings) are also eligible.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in Hindi & English (mandatory).
  • Proficiency in regional languages (Urdu, Odia, Marathi, Malayalam) for relevant campuses.
  • Specialization in Media Management, Strategic Communication, Defence/Political Science, Foreign Policy, New Media Communication, Data Analytics, AR/VR, Adobe Creative Suite etc.

Age Limit

As per UGC Regulations 2018 (no specific maximum age mentioned; eligibility based on qualifications and experience).

  1. Applications must be submitted online only through the IIMC website: www.iimc.gov.in/vacancy.
  2. After filling online form, candidates must send hard copies of application along with required documents and Demand Draft to:
    Deputy Registrar, IIMC, Aruna Asaf Ali Marg, JNU New Campus, New Delhi – 110067.
  3. Application Fee:
    • UR/OBC: ₹3000
    • EWS/SC/ST/PwD/Women: ₹1500
    • Candidates who had applied in earlier Advt. No. 02/2024 must apply afresh, but need not pay fee (except those listed in notice V/1911/2023-MCI dated 22.11.2024).

Selection Procedure

  • Direct recruitment will be based on merit through all-India advertisement and interview by Selection Committee.
  • Shortlisting will be done as per UGC Regulations 2018.
  • University may also conduct a written test/seminar/lecture demonstration for assessing teaching and research aptitude.
  • Final selection will be based on interview performance.
