Key Highlights of the Rule
- Effective Date: From 1st October 2025, wall-mounted QR code-based devices will be discontinued.
- Mandatory App Installation: All medical faculty members must install the FACE-based Aadhaar Authentication mobile app on their smartphones.
- Earlier Fingerprint/Iris System Discontinued: Since 1st May 2025, fingerprint and iris-based biometric attendance has been fully replaced by the Aadhaar FACE app.
Attendance via FACE Aadhaar Authentication App
- Faculty must mark attendance through the NMC AadhaarBAS mobile app (available on Android and iOS).
- Attendance will be authenticated by matching the facial biometrics stored in the Aadhaar database.
- Attendance can only be marked within a 100-meter radius of pre-registered GPS locations inside the college campus.
- The app supports geo-fencing and allows real-time notifications for marking attendance.
Responsibilities of Medical Colleges
- GPS Location Sharing: Colleges must submit latitude and longitude details of attendance zones within their campus to NMC.
- Nodal Officer: A designated nodal officer must coordinate with NMC for implementation.
- Training: Deans and Principals must ensure that all faculty members are trained in using the app.
- Device Requirements: Smartphones must have Android 9+/iOS 14+, minimum 4GB RAM, and a 5MP+ camera for smooth functioning.
