Tripura Santiniketan Medical College Kicks Off Year-Long 1 Crore Tree Plantation Drive on World Environment Day

On the occasion of World Environment Day, a significant Tree Plantation Program was organized today, Thursday, at the campus of Tripura Santiniketan Medical College. This impactful event, a joint initiative by Positive Barta and Tripura Santiniketan Medical College, saw enthusiastic participation from college authorities and numerous local women entrepreneurs, lending a unique dimension to the day's proceedings.

The plantation drive's ambition extended beyond mere tree planting; its core aim was to cultivate a profound emotional connection between individuals and the environment. Today's event marked the auspicious beginning of a year-long environmental protection campaign with an ambitious national target: the planting of 1 crore (10 million) trees across various regions of the country, strategically aligned with local seasonal climates. This noble mission is anticipated not only to make substantial contributions to ecological preservation but also to lay a robust foundation for a greener, healthier future for generations to come.

The event was graced by the esteemed presence of Malay Pit, President of Tripura Santiniketan Medical College, alongside Professor Dr. Sanjay Nath (Principal), Professor Dr. Bhupesh Shil (Dean), Professor Dr. Swapan Sarkar, Professor Dr. Tanuja Bhattacharya, and Professor Dr. Deepak Kumar Daha, among other distinguished guests. In their addresses, all dignitaries underscored the critical importance of environmental conservation and emphasized the active role that every segment of society must embrace in this collective responsibility. A particularly noteworthy aspect of the program was the pivotal role played by women entrepreneurs. These dedicated individuals have embraced the ambitious goal of planting one lakh (100,000) trees across Tripura within the span of a year, with their initiative officially commencing today on the college campus. In the coming days, a collaborative effort involving college students and these women entrepreneurs will see approximately 3,000 saplings planted in the surrounding areas.
